Details of earmarked scholarships scheme to support Category 1 project grants

The University of Queensland Earmarked Scholarships Scheme 2024 is currently open for applications from eligible Ph.D. students. These scholarships, funded by the Australian Government, aim to support students in covering their tuition fees and living expenses. Both domestic and international students are eligible to apply for these scholarships to pursue their Ph.D. studies at the University of Queensland.

The Earmarked scholarships are specifically tailored for research projects aligned with recently awarded Category 1 Research Grants. This offers Ph.D. students a unique opportunity to collaborate with leading researchers in their field and contribute to large-scale projects of national significance.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline. Earmarked Scholarships overview

The applications for these scholarships are open in rounds all year through. There are 4 main rounds that match with the University of Queensland’s academic year for research students(research quarters (RQ)), applicants must apply at least 12 weeks before the commencement date of each Research Quarter

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for these scholarships interested applicants must meet the University of Queensland’s minimum entry into entry requirements for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

How to apply

Before applying for these scholarships, applicants must check the latest commencement date and ensure they can meet the timeframes. They must equally apply at least 12 weeks prior.

Earmarked scholarships are awarded to support Category 1 project grants. To apply for these scholarships, interested applicants should:

  1. Choose an eligible project and contact the project supervisor to discuss your interest
  2. Prepare your documentation
  3. In your application, under the ‘Scholarship and Collaborative study’ section, select:
  • ‘My higher degree is not collaborative’.
  • ‘I am applying for, or have been awarded a scholarship or sponsorship’.
